AAFES (Army/Air Force Exchange Services)
Challenge: AAFES developed a new brand experience for its retail stores (averaging 130,000 sq ft), and with a brand launch date fast approaching, they needed a partner to assist with fabrication and installation of the prototypical elements. To further add to the challenge, many of the design elements were not documented for fabrication and were only in the conceptual two-dimensional rendering stage. Multiple wall and ceiling conditions exist in the space, so a variety of hanging, mounting and attachment methods were required to be developed.
Solution: RetailOne worked closely with the Exchange design team over a 6 week period to develop custom engineering solutions for key departmental signage, endcaps, wayfinding, column wraps, acrylic literature holders and point of sale wraps, as well as specially made hardware for hanging category signs. Other items produced and installed include: backer paper, category header signage, wallcovering, mesh banners, framed graphics, standard endcap signage and shelf strips.
Results: Initial sales more than doubled the prior year’s sales and the concept is currently being rolled out worldwide.
